Identify the residence you currently hold
Start with the issuing authority, residence category, sponsor or company, and the expiry shown on your current residence record. “Two-year visa” describes a duration, not the complete category. Explain whether your next application would keep the same sponsor and activity, change employer or company, or move to another route. A renewal enquiry and a new residence enquiry should not be treated as interchangeable.
Make one list of the documents and dates
Prepare a private checklist covering your passport validity, residence expiry, Emirates ID expiry and applicable insurance dates. If you work independently or run a company, add the activity licence and any establishment-card dates. You can initially send a short description of your situation without document numbers. Share copies only after confirming the provider and the agreed document-handling process.
Check what has changed since the last application
Tell the provider if you have a new passport, a different employer, a changed company licence or activity, or family members whose arrangements also need attention. Explain whether you are currently inside or outside the UAE. Ask the relevant authority whether any cancellation, amendment or separate application is needed before the proposed renewal. Do not assume a previous checklist still covers a changed situation.
Budget separately for residence and related renewals
Request current authority charges, applicable medical and ID costs, insurance, assistance fees and taxes in writing. Ask whether a new establishment card, status change or document correction is part of your case. An old receipt is useful context, but is not a current quotation.
Agree the sequence and keep the application reference
Ask who submits each stage, which appointments require your attendance, how you receive progress updates and which proof confirms completion. Plan before the current expiry and verify your permitted stay with the issuing authority. A WhatsApp message or a service quotation does not renew residence or extend a deadline. If a document has already expired, state that clearly so the next step is assessed correctly.
