Two documents, two different questions
A freelance activity permit concerns the professional activity you are authorised to carry out. A residence permit concerns your permission to live in the UAE under a particular category. A package may arrange both, but the words “freelance visa” do not tell you which documents or charges are included. Start by asking for the name of the licensing authority, the approved activity and the proposed residence route.
Already a UAE resident? Start with the activity
Describe your actual work and your existing residence arrangement before buying a package. For example, a designer who already holds residence may have a different enquiry from someone moving to Dubai for the first time. Ask the proposed licensing authority whether your present arrangement is acceptable, whether any declaration or consent is required, and what work the activity covers. Keep your current residence until the applicable transition steps have been confirmed.
Moving to Dubai? Separate the stages
For a first-time move, ask which stage creates the activity licence and which stage handles entry, residence, medical fitness and Emirates ID. Check whether an establishment card and insurance are included or charged separately. GoFreelance currently lists one-year and two-year visa options for licence holders; this is one specific provider route, not a rule for every freelance licence in the UAE.
A two-year residence does not mean every item lasts two years
GoFreelance states that its freelance licence renews annually. Its residence options are described separately. When comparing a “two-year package”, write down each document, its issuer, its expiry date and its renewal cost. Ask whether any first-year discount applies again at renewal. This prevents the initial package price from being mistaken for the complete cost of two years of activity and residence.
Compare written offers on the same basis
Put the approved activity, permit duration, residence duration, establishment card, medical, ID, insurance, assistance fee and taxes next to each other. Mark every item as included, excluded or awaiting confirmation. Ask what happens if the authority requests further documents, if you cancel, or if the application is refused. Do not compare a licence-only offer with a complete residence process as though they were the same service.
Send a useful first enquiry
Tell us your occupation, current country, current UAE status and whether you need a permit only, a new residence, or a renewal. You can use the freelance visa quote tool to prepare the WhatsApp message. If you are comparing employment, independent work and company ownership, also read the two-year residence route comparison. No passport number or payment details are needed in the initial website enquiry.
Tell us your requirements; we will confirm the service scope before proceeding.
